sunday--day #2...but it feels like so much more...

well. wow. i'm in LA!!!
it is hot, sunny and beautiful!! At first i wasn't sure because we were just around the airport and there wasn't too much to see--i mean the planes were HUGE and cool, that was something--but now i am about an hour away in Riverside on the campus of California Baptist University for training and it is quite an awesome place. I'm seeing all kinds of tropicals we have in the greenhouses and foliage that jessica uses in bouquets just growing right there!!!

my team consists of 10 young adults including a team leader, Jamilla. She is SO hyper and super energetic. Yesterday and today our team has been entertained and sometimes dumbfounded with her energy. She is really fun. The rest of the team is getting along so far. we are a "mature" team with the average age being about 23 as opposed to 21....i happen to be the youngest(20) and the oldest is 26. that does not matter at all! we are all excited to go. our students are supposed to be quite priveledged and pretty advanced in English. we shall soon see.

Yesterday everyone arrived throughout the day, registered, and met their teammates. there are about 230 students and leaders here preparing to go to Hong Kong, CHina or Vietnam. there are 5 Canadians and for the whole group go to sing the anthem for Canada Day--the Americans tried to sing along too:)
...and today was a busy day too!! we discussed culture and had a worship service this morning and this afternoon we learned about Vietnemese culture--including some language lessons. that was tough!! To start, there are 6 different tonal sounds... hopefully with some practice we will all master the basics. (hello sounds like "seen chow")

all in all things are going great. Sometimes it feels as if i've been here a week because we have been given so much information already! There is so much to be thankful for: My team is unique and exciting, the food here is quite good, the worship is awesome, and I know there are good things happening among and between us all!

thanks for your care and support--lots of love!!
so much happening but i still think of my family and friends!
over and out*

Ginelle,
I hope everything is going well and that you have an amazing time this summer. I got the second half of the gift... and I love it so much! I was looking at my class schedule for next year and realized that we kind of half a class together. I am taking ceramics 1 and you, ceramics 3.... which are at the same time! I can't wait! We can get dirty together! Thinking about you!
