sprucing up

After a bit of traveling, I've been inspired to paint something.  I didn't want to paint a wall but i enjoyed sprucing up this record shelf i got for free on freecycle a few months ago.

I sampled three different colours on the top to decide which to choose.

Here's the finished result, what do you think?
And a side note:
I found the matching tin (in the final photo) at my dad's house.  Growing up, it had been in our living room full of odd buttons and a roll of photos from a class mom taught back in 1981.  They were still in there when i found it last weekend and it was made in Hamilton, no less!

A few weeks ago at church I was talking to a newcomer and discovered that he had been in my mom's class back when she taught.  She didn't teach very long so i was surprised to hear this.  I immediately thought of this old tin and the fact that there was a roll of old class photos stashed inside.
I have yet to ask the man if he is in the photos but it was fun to make a connection and then find the tin in dad's basement.  Old stuff:  the best!

Love the color and free find, Ginelle!
